Training for Student Advisors
 
With so many Iraqi students interested in studying in the United States, the U.S. Embassy in Iraq  is planning several workshops for Iraqi educators interested in assisting these students. The workshops will be five days long and take place over the next 12-14 months in various locations across Iraq.  The training will address how to select an academic program, costs of study, applications, admissions, testing and visa requirements.

    • If you are a student, this program is not for you.
    • Do you have three or more years of experience as a university faculty member or administrator?
    • Are you interested and motivated to advise Iraqi students on undergraduate or graduate study in the U.S.?
    • Are you willing to share your new experience and information with students and other faculty?
    • Are your English language skills strong enough to read and understand information about U.S. higher education programs on the Internet?

  • Baghdad Workshop applications are due by August 1, 2009.
  • Erbil Workshop applications are due by September 1, 2009.

How to download and save the application form:

  1. Click "apply."
  2. After you open the application, save the pdf file to your computer or a flash drive.
  3. Be sure to save your application often.

How to submit your application. When you are ready to submit your application:

  1. Open the application.
  2. Make sure that you have internet access.
  3. Click "submit application" button at bottom of the application.
  4. You will see your email browser with the iraqadvising@aed.org in the "send to" box.
  5. You will see the pdf application as an attachment in the email.
  6. Click send.
  7. Or, if the automatically launched email program is not your preferred email client, you can send the completed pdf application form as an attachment to iraqadvising@aed.org from any email account.
